Sahara Ghar is a care home and rehabilitation shelter in Kailali, operating under Helping Hands Nepal, taking full parental and social responsibility for those left behind.
Around 2070 BS (≈ 2013 AD), local social worker Bal Bahadur Bista began rescuing people from the streets of Kailali, feeding them, sheltering them, and treating them as family.
For over a decade, he and his team have worked around the clock. What began as a single act of compassion is now a home to around 100 people who had nowhere else to turn.
For most of that time, Sahara Ghar survived entirely on donations from Nepalis at home and abroad, a testament to what a community can hold up together.
